DCMS Triennial Review of Gaming Machine Stakes and Prize limits

The DCMS is in the process of conducting a Triennial Review of Gaming Machine Stake and Prize Limits. This includes a review of stakes and prizes for the category B2 machines in betting shops. The link will take you to the DCMS document:

Views are invited from businesses who offer gaming machines as part of their offer, those who manufacture and supply gaming machines, charities and other organisations with an interest in problem gambling as well as faith and community groups and any other interested parties or individuals. The review suggests a number of ways forward:

1. do nothing
2. increase stakes and prize limits to cover inflation from 2007 (when the Gambling Act 2005 came in to force)
3. proposals by the gambling industry
4. and the Government’s preferred options.

In fact, the proposals for B2 machines in 1,3 and 4 are effectively the same as no changes are proposed by either the industry or government. The current maximum stake is £100, the current maximum prize is £500. For further information please contact me on 020 7706 6029 or email [email protected]
